Men To Watch Awards 2026 honors J. Vincent Williams

J. Vincent Williams is a seasoned executive, entrepreneur, and advocate for economic empowerment with more than two decades of experience advancing business development, workforce innovation, and community impact. As a proud native of the South Side of Chicago, Vincent’s work is deeply rooted in a commitment to expanding access, opportunity, and ownership for underrepresented entrepreneurs.
Vincent currently serves as the Executive Director of the Entrepreneurial Development and Leadership Institute (EDLI), where he leads a mission-driven platform designed to prepare entrepreneurs to be capital-ready through personalized business assessments, strategic coaching, and intentional connections to an ecosystem of support. Under his leadership, EDLI continues to emerge as a trusted convener bridging the gap between underserved founders and the financial and philanthropic institutions that fuel sustainable growth and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He is also the Founder and Principal Consultant of JV Williams Consulting Group, a boutique advisory firm focused on business strategy, organizational development, and minority business enterprise growth. Throughout his career, Vincent has advised corporations, government agencies, and small businesses alike, helping to drive inclusive economic development and equitable access to capital.
Vincent’s leadership journey includes serving as President and CEO of the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council, where he oversaw regional minority business development and corporate engagement, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and led teams of more than 40 employees across multiple states. Across his leadership roles, he has successfully raised significant funding from both public and private sector partners, strengthening organizational capacity and expanding impact. He also served in Executive Leadership roles at several non-profit organizations dedicated to empowering communities, reducing concentrated poverty through entrepreneurship and workforce training. Vincent is a proud Lifetime Member of the National Black MBA Association – Chicago Chapter, the organization’s founding chapter, reflecting his long-standing commitment to excellence, leadership, and the advancement of Black professionals.
A third-generation entrepreneur, Vincent holds a BBA in Marketing and a master’s degree in Management and Finance and brings over 20 years of experience as a mentor, coach, and advocate. His work extends beyond business into community violence intervention and reentry support, where he has spent more than a decade empowering individuals to rebuild, and reclaim their futures.
Grounded in faith and purpose, Vincent believes that God’s beauty and strength prevails in all things and that prayer is not passive—it is diligence in action. This belief fuels his unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and impact.
Looking ahead, Vincent is focused on scaling EDLI’s national footprint, deepening strategic partnerships, and building sustainable pathways for wealth creation in underserved communities. His vision is to ensure that every entrepreneur—regardless of background—has access to the tools, capital, and network needed to thrive.
