CEO and Founder, Jeri Guyette, has had a lifelong passion for beauty, fashion, and science. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology, is a Licensed Master Cosmetologist, Paramedical Aesthetician, Certified Medical and Clinical Electrologist, and Camouflage Make-up Artist. Jeri also holds an Associate of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology and is a graduate of The Dallas Center for Advanced Aesthetic Medicine. She has worked alongside plastic and cosmetic surgeons as well as dermatologists for over thirty-five years and has treated multiple skin disorders, written chemical and laser treatment protocols, and lectured and trained medical nurses and aestheticians. Her expertise lies in acneic, hyperpigmented, ethnic,
and aging skin. Launching her cosmetics company on June 15, 2019, just two months shy of her 50th birthday, enabled her to weave all three former passions into one exquisite tapestry. Vintage Vixen Cosmetics LLC, (“The ProGenerativeTM Cosmetic”) is the first Black woman-owned luxury color cosmetics company especially created for multi-ethnic women ages 35 and “Finer” to help boost collagen production and maintain moisture.
While performing countless treatments with various modalities and consultation recommendations, a common complaint was noted among her more mature female clients: that of the lack of cosmetic choices especially geared towards their unique skin care needs. The loss of estrogen, whether via natural or surgical menopause, contributes to drier skin, and loss of elasticity, giving rise to dermal collapse, or as it’s commonly known: wrinkles. Cognizant that collagen levels can be boosted throughout a person’s lifespan with essential organic products, Jeri set out to fill that void by becoming a cosmetic chemist at the age of 47.
Combining her medical knowledge along with her scientific training, Jeri
experimented with a myriad of cosmetic and natural ingredients to create innovative cosmetics that would not only address the concerns of ageing skin but be beautiful and edgy in color too. Infusing her line with botanicals to nourish the skin on a cellular level and safeguard the skin’s integrity with UVA and UVB protection, she was able to incorporate her love of animals by researching alternatives to common synthetic ingredients to remain cruelty-free. Evoking her love of old Hollywood glamour, she culled her prism of colors from her top favorite actresses and songstresses from bygone era that represented the epitome of beauty, strength, class, and sass. These legendary icons would epitomize women who were humanitarians, philanthropists, activists, and trailblazers to inspire a new generation of “vintage” women.
An ardent pro-age advocate who loves to challenge society’s negative narratives regarding ageing women, Jeri is also a lifestyle/commercial/print/runway model who believes that more mature women should be included in all aspects of advertisement and social media because “although menopausal women are currently the fastest growing demographic group, we are under-represented and the desire to be our unique and best selves never fades with age.” The recipient of the 2023 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award from The Lucas Center for Entrepreneurship, impactful Motivational Speaker, and honored member of the Cosmetic Executive Women International Organization, it is this tenacious visionary’s desire to inspire all women to empowerment by embracing “The Gift of Longevity”, disrupting ageism, and changing beauty standards.
