Black Leaders Worldwide honors Toyria Mattear, 2025 Women To Watch.

Toyria Mattear is a dedicated leader with over 13 years of service in the United States Marine Corps, currently serving as an E7 Travel Chief Finance Technician. She has played a pivotal role in managing military financial operations and supporting service members through Command Financial Specialist duties since 2022. Earlier in her career, she served as an Agency Program Coordinator (2012-2015), overseeing financial programs for over70,000 service members.

Beyond her military career, Toyria is a Financial Broker and Licensed Insurance Agent at GFI, specializing in retirement planning, Index Universal Life (IULs), annuities, Fixed Index Accounts (FIAs), term insurance with living benefits, whole life, and final expense coverage. She helps individuals, families, and self-employed professionals navigate financial security, ensuring they build lasting wealth and protect their financial legacies.

Toyria initially pursued a career in law enforcement, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2014, with the intent of becoming a sheriff. However, after completing her collegiate track and field career in 2010, she chose to serve her country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in May 2011. She is currently furthering her education by pursuing a Master’s in Marketing Management at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).

A former competitive track and field athlete, Toyria was a runner-up in Florida’s 4A division and was featured in the Miami Herald for her high school performances. She represented Beverly Track Stars (now City of Lauderhill Cheetahs) and competed at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) during her collegiate career, accumulating multiple accolades. Her athletic experience instilled discipline, perseverance, and a relentless drive that continues to shape her professional and personal endeavors.

Toyria’s journey is deeply rooted in resilience, service, and financial empowerment. From a young age, she understood that life presents opportunities, even when they are disguised as challenges. She believes in building—mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually—and is passionate about helping others create stability and long-term success.

Her dedication to community service is evident in her longstanding support for the Special Olympics, a cause she actively donates to and plans to continue championing in the future. She also envisions creating homes for homeless veterans and transitioning service members, ensuring they have access to both shelter and structured programs that facilitate

their recovery and reintegration into society.

Toyria's long-term vision includes land ownership and community-driven business initiatives, where families can develop skills, start businesses, and build generational wealth. She believes in empowering people by providing opportunities—whether through financial education, mentorship, or business partnerships.

As a mentor and leader, Toyria has found deep fulfillment in guiding junior Marines and young adults navigating life. She recognizes that many lack exposure to financial literacy and career-building opportunities, and she is committed to bridging that gap through education and mentorship. After retiring from the military, she plans to transition into teaching, using her leadership experience to inspire and guide the next generation. She is seeking business partners who share a vision for long-term financial stability, entrepreneurship, and wealth-building. She advocates for early financial education, emphasizing the importance of estate planning, trusts, and ensuring assets remain with family instead of being tied up in legal processes.

A lifelong learner and creative thinker, Toyria enjoys drawing, writing, singing, and exploring abstract ideas. She has always found herself in leadership roles—whether coaching, choreographing, or community involvement—often stepping up to challenges and

embracing opportunities to inspire others.

Her ultimate goal is to continue helping families, build her vision of a family compound and community farming initiative, and travel the world while uplifting others. She firmly believes that as long as a person has breath in their body, they have the ability to keep progressing—a principle she embodies in both her personal and professional life.
