
Dr. Ed Simmons, a native of Orangeburg, SC, serves as a Community/Economic Development Planner for the Central Midlands Council of Governments. In this capacity, he provides invaluable technical assistance to local governments, facilitating the development of both local and regional plans across the four Midlands regions of South Carolina. Dr. Simmons extensive academic credentials encompass a BA in Political Science from South Carolina State University, a Master of Public Administration, a Master of Philosophy in Public Policy, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. This robust educational foundation equips him with the knowledge and skills to effectively support and enhance community and economic development initiatives.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Simmons has attained multiple professional certifications, including Project Management from the University of South Carolina, Grant Writing from Grant Writing USA, Economic Development from the South Carolina Economic Development Institute, and Human Resource Management from Walden University.
